Is there a park entry fee?

Yes.  Daily vehicle fee is $6.00 (CASH ONLY).  Annual permit available at the park office.

Who can participate?

Just about anyone. As long as you are able to sit on top of a Kayak,  stand up on a Paddle Board or ride a bike.  Tandem Kayaks are available.  We have PFDs and Helmets that fit Young Children to Older Adults.

How old do you need to be to rent a kayak?

We require a waiver for every participant.  Under 18 years olds must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Small children can ride with an adult.

What form of payment do you take?

  Credit, Debit and Cash

Do you deliver?

Sometimes.  It depends on where and when.  There is an additional charge.

Can I flip in a kayak?

Yes you can and it might even be fun! However, most people do not flip the kayak and the most wet they get is from the water running off the paddle. Our kayaks are sit on top kayaks designed for stability and agility on the water.

What to bring kayaking?

Bring plenty water, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water shoes and a smile!  There is space on the back of the kayak for a small cooler for snacks and drinks (bring bungees).  We highly suggest that you do not take anything on the water or that you are not willing to get wet or lose. Smithville lake is 60 feet deep in areas making lost items very difficult to find. Do bring a sense of adventure!

What to bring cycling?

Smithville lake has a very nice paved trail system.  Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, snacks, suitable cycling shoes, and be prepared for an adventure.  We provide helmets.
